BIO
Ingrid Bugge is a multi-media artist based in Copenhagen, Denmark, working primarily in photography, video and installation. Often centering on the body, Bugge sets out to explore themes of sensuality, movement, passion and authencity, conveing a dream-like sense of ecstacy and weightlessness.
Trained as an engineer and photographer, Ingrid Bugge has worked as a producer of short films, reportages and web productions for DR (Danish Broadcasting Coorporation) and The National Museum of Denmark among others, before turning to a sole focus on her artistic practice.
Among Bugge’s recent work is a series of photo-collages titled Surrender, exhibited at Grundtvig’s Church in Copenhagen in September 2011.
Currently, Bugge is working on an art installation for Copenhagen University, in which she investigates how mathematics can be comprehended poetically. The project is funded by the Danish National Research Foundation. Previously, Bugge has collaborated with The Danish Dance Theatre, The Danish Royal Ballet and The National Ballet in Santiago.
Ingrid Bugge is further engaged in facilitating cooperation between artists in Copenhagen. In February 2012, Bugge launched her latest brainchild Den Nye Kunstnersalon (The New Artists’ Salon) together with actress Charlotte Munck and film-photographer Kenneth Sorento. Re-inventing the tradition of the salon, the idea is to gather creative people in a stimulating forum, where ideas are nursed, debated and stimulated across disciplines.
