Between the Lines

Between the Lines is a visual storytelling interpretation of seven selected quotes from Søren Kierkegaard’s writings. The photographic collages consist of underwater photographs of dancers and photographs of Søren Kierkegaard’s original writings. The combination of underwater photographs and photographs of Søren Kierkegaard’s writings create visual storytelling. As an illustration, the dancers interpret and tell the story of the chosen quotes.

Together with choreographer Pipaluk Supernova Bugge created a choreography that shows the movements of the dancers.

“Reading Kierkegaard’s texts particularly seven quotes stroke me personally. All seven quotes describe emotional states that we all recognize: anxiety, depression, joy and despair. I used the underwater photography to visualize the emotional state represented in Kierkegaard-quotes. When I was under water I experienced being in touch with a sort of essence; the dancers inner being – their soul. The character and emotion they communicated came across so clear – strong and pure.

I seeked to highlight the strong contrasts where the bodies were floating around in a dreamy space” – Ingrid Bugge

Arrangements are available in the Gallery and as a poster in the Postershop.
